School of Theatre
The School of Theatre began with our summer musical theatre workshops and has grown into full productions, actor training, and theatre tech classes.
Students will gain industry knowledge towards acting training and dramatic standards through the NSSOTA Dramatics Program.
Performances are held in our state of the art Black Box Theatre that is equipped with theatrical lighting, special effect machines, theatrical sound, and more.

PHYSICAL THEATRE TECHNIQUE:
GAINING CONTROL OF THE BODY
Helping the performer gain control of their body and develop an understanding of how to create a character movement system for the stage and screen.
VOICE PRODUCTION
DEVELOPING A STAGE SPEAKING VOICE
Developing the speaking voice for clear, dynamic, and powerful speech.
ACTING TECHNIQUE CHARACTER
GAIN INDUSTRY KNOWLEDGE OF ACTING TECHNIQUES
Building knowledge of and vocabulary for industry standard acting techniques. Study and practice with multiple schools of thought on acting training.
AUDITION PREPARATION AND COLD READING SKILLS:
EXCELLENCE IN AUDITIONS
Teaching the performer the skills and tools to deliver an excellent audition.
REPERTOIRE BUILDING:
READINESS WHEN PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES ARISE
Reading literature to aid with building a collection of audition materials, monologues, scenes, and characters that the actor is familiar with and can readily use when performance opportunities arise.
PERFORMANCE:
BECOMING A WELL ROUNDED ACTOR
Productions, scene study, workshops, master class, formal and informal showings.
Dramatics Program
Our classes allow young artist to improve stage presence, increase understanding of theatrical terminology, and develop the basic skills needed to “stand out” in auditions.
Our Dramatics program focuses on a specific skill for 8 to 12 weeks and concludes with a performance project. Focus areas include improv, puppetry, one act plays, character development, acting for film, dance for theatre, and much more!
In addition to actor training, we offer theatre tech instruction which focuses on set design, prop development, lighting, and sound.
All classes are offered weekly and are divided by specific age groups.
Theatre Productions
NSSOTA provides seasonal auditions and performance opportunties throughout the year for productions within our Black Box Theatre.
Productions include musicals, revues, straight plays, and dramatic classics.
Coaching and Private Lessons
Coaching and private lessons are:
- Talent Development: Develop your talents and expose your abilities to the professional performance industry.
- Audition Prep: Fine tune your abilities ahead of critical auditions so you can impress the judges and be a “stand out”.
- Scholarship Prep: Outline, plan, and prepare your scholarship audition material to qualify for your college scholarship/admissions.
- Acting Lessons: Learn acting and enhance your stage pressence
