New Song
School of Theatre
The School of Theatre began with our summer musical theatre workshops and has grown into full productions, actor training, and theatre tech group classes.
Students will gain industry knowledge towards acting training and dramatic standards through the NSSOTA Stage Program.
Performances are held in our state of the art Black Box Theatre that is equipped with theatrical lighting, special effect machines, theatrical sound, and more.
Stage Program
NSSOTA’s approach is that theatre students receive well-rounded theatre group classes which include technique and building a foundation, instead of drama classes that only focus on a performance. In doing so, our students are set for success with auditions for productions, building soft skills such as self-confidence, and are being given an education on all elements of theatre not just performing.
Coaching and Private Lessons
Coaching and private lessons are:
- Talent Development: Develop your talents and expose your abilities to the professional performance industry.
- Audition Prep: Fine tune your abilities ahead of critical auditions so you can impress the judges and be a “stand out”.
- Scholarship Prep: Outline, plan, and prepare your scholarship audition material to qualify for your college scholarship/admissions.
- Acting Lessons: Learn acting and enhance your stage pressence

Theatre Productions
NSSOTA provides performance opportunities throughout the year for productions within our Black Box Theater – NSSOTA Main Stage Productions and NSSOTA One-Act Projects.
Productions include musicals, revues, straight plays, and dramatic classics.
NSSOTA Main Stage productions provide students with emphasis on acting excellence and character portrayal in full costume and scenery. While implementing all major theatrical elements, students explore classic plays, musicals, and other genres of theatre.
NSSOTA One-Act Project provides opportunities for actors to shine in a minimalist setting of a black box theater. The content of a one-act project can vary to include special projects, workshops that focus on specific genres, skill building, etc. Typically, one-act projects are shorter in length with costuming and scenery paired back to highlight the cast in a truly unique experience.
