2023-2024 Performance & Event Details

NSSOTA classifies performances on a three tier system:

● Tier 1 Performance: Students perform in a studio performance, community event, charity event, church service, or in front of friends and family at home, etc. These performances are typically informal and demonstrate student progress to develop their performance skills. Memorization is encouraged for this performance tier.

● Tier 2 Performance: Students perform in a formal recital showcase or production. Memorization and a polished performance is expected for this performance tier.

● Tier 3 Performance: Students perform in an adjudicated festival or competition. In this setting, they receive positive critiques and a rating, along with an award based upon their rating. Memorization is required at this performance tier.

NSSOTA provides studio-wide Tier 2 and Tier 3 performances. Tier 1 performances may also be hosted by NSSOTA instructors at NSSOTA. Students are encouraged to perform at least once in the calendar year for the sake of developing their performance skills.

Spring Production: Willy Wonka, Jr.

Performances: May 2-5

Ronald Dahl’s Willy Wonka, Jr. follows enigmatic candy manufacturer Willy Wonka as he stages a contest by hiding golden tickets in five of his scrumptious candy bars. Whomever comes up with these tickets will win a free tour of the Wonka factory, as well as a lifetime supply of candy. Four of the five winning children are insufferable brats, but the fifth is a likable young lad named Charlie Bucket, who takes the tour in the company of his equally amiable grandfather. The children must learn to follow Mr. Wonka’s rules in the factory — or suffer the consequences.
