What:

“STARSTRUCK”- a vocal masterclass and workshop teaching students the “ins and outs” of auditioning
for a Broadway show, musical theater, theater, etc

When:

Saturday, March 21, 2020 – 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. (online registration deadline is March 7)

Where:

Lantana Community Church, 2200 Jeter Rd, Lantana, Tx.

Ways to Participate:

  • Level I – General public (early registration $15 pp; at the door $25 pp – limited to the first 100 to sign up)
  • Level II – Mock-audition Participant, ages 13 and up; $30 pp (space is limited)*
  • Level III – Mini-Lesson Participant (on stage, as part of masterclass), ages 13 and up; $40 pp (space is limited)*
    *30 second to 1 minute audition video required for Level II and III participants. Send video to mail@nssota.com by March 7, 2020. Include name and desired participant level.

Level 1

What to expect if you sign up for Level One:

  • Auditing/observing of all Amanda’s teaching sessions & auditions
  • Take home any handouts

How to prepare as a Level One participant:

  • No need to prepare. Just come, watch, and have fun learning with us!

What to bring as a Level One Participant:

  • A notepad or device to take notes
  • A lunch (pizza and drinks may be purchased)

 

Level 2

What to expect if you sign up for a Level Two participant:

  • Participate in a mock New York Broadway audition
  • Get tips on what judges look for applicants
  • Learn tips on how to choose audition pieces
  • Learn how to create an audition book
  • Learn details about the authentic audition process in the Broadway industry
  • Watch and learn from all of Amanda’s teaching sessions
  • Take home any handouts

 How to prepare as a Level Two participant:

  • prepare a 30 second video of yourself singing the song you will sing at this event. Email video to performance@nssota.com on or before March 10.
  • learn 30 seconds/16 measures of two different memorized songs in contrasting genres/styles to sing for the mock audition portion of this event

Or

  • learn 60 seconds/32 measures of one memorized song to sing for the mock audition at this event

 

What to bring as a Level Two Participant:

  • A copy of your sheet music
  • your audition book (if you have one)
  • A notepad or device to take notes
  • A lunch (pizza and drinks may be purchased)

 

Level 3

What should I expect if I sign up as a Level Three participant?

  • A master class (individual mini lesson with audience observing) with Amanda as she works with you on your prepared choice of music/acting.
  • Personalized instruction and feedback on your vocal techniques, interpretation, expression, etc.
  • Watch and learn from all of Amanda’s teaching sessions
  • Learn details about the authentic audition process in the Broadway industry
  • Get tips on what judges look for applicants
  • Learn tips on how to choose audition pieces
  • Learn how to create an audition book
  • Watch and learn from all of Amanda’s teaching sessions
  • Take home any handouts

How to prepare as a Level Three participant:

  • prepare a 30 second video of yourself singing the song you will sing at this event. Email video to performance@nssota.com on or before March 10.
  • Memorize one musical theatre piece or pop/rock song of your choice, in its entirety, to sing for the master class portion of this event. This selection should be a piece that you have already performed or would like to perform in the future.

 

What to bring as a Level Three Participant:

  • A copy of your sheet music
  • your audition book (if you have one)
  • A notepad or device to take notes
  • A lunch (pizza and drinks may be purchased)

Additional details that apply to both Level 2 and 3 participants.

  • We recommend that all level 3 participants also sign up for the mock auditions, Level 2, to receive the maximum benefit from this event.

Content for this Masterclass:

  • Participate in warm-ups and vocal exercises that you can add to your practice regimen
  • Watch Amanda work with singers in a masterclass setting where you will learn more about singing and performing musical theatre repertoire
  • Hear insights on how to begin preparing for a professional musical theatre career
  • Learn how to build an audition book for both college auditions and professional auditions
  • Learn skills that will help you feel more confident in your auditions
  • Learn tips on how to choose audition repertoire that will highlight your vocal range

What You Need to Know Before You Register:

  • Pizza and water available for purchase during lunch break. You are also welcome to bring your own lunch.
  • Children 12 years or younger must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Level II and II participants must email a 30 second to one-minute audition video by March 7th to be eligible to participate. Send to mail@nssota.com. You will be informed regarding your audition by March 9th.
