School of Music
Founded in 1999, The School of Music offers programs for all ages. Private lessons include options for various instruments such as piano, voice, guitar, drums, ukulele, strings, woodwinds & brass.
The School of Music offers performances in our Recital Hall and Black Box Theatre throughout the year. Students have lessons in the Jackson Arts Building on a weekly basis. For students interested in music production and recording, our studio houses an audio/visual production space. Instructors at NSSOTA are highly sought after in the North Texas area. In addition to higher education degrees, many are active professional musicians and performers.
Private Music Lessons
Private music instruction provides students one on one learning to develop a lifelong passion for music. Take lessons in our beautiful studio in Argyle, TX. We also offer in-home and virtual options. The curriculum will be tailored to a student’s ability and interests based on the six pillars of NSSOTA’s School of Music.
Instrumental Instruction includes:

Music Explorer & Fine Arts Explorer Programs
Not sure where to start when choosing an instrument or group class? Allow us help you in this process.
MUSIC EXPLORER PROGRAM: Try three different instruments and do 4 consecutive lessons in each. Toward the completion of the third instrument choose which instrument to continue learning.
FINE ARTS EXPLORER PROGRAM: Try Music. Try Art. Try Theatre. Do 4 consecutive private lessons or group classes in each. Toward the completion of the third study, choose which you would like to continue learning.
T.E.A.M. Jam Performing Groups
In T.E.A.M. Jam (Together Everyone Achieves More), students will make music and perform together. It is a powerful and rewarding way to grow, challenge, and inspire one another! Group classes are a practical application of what the student is learning in their private lessons.
Vocal Ensemble (Ages 8-14): NSSOTA’s Vocal Ensemble learns to sing a variety of musical genres, vocal techniques, solfege, sight singing, and how to harmonize while blending with other voices.
Become a member of this group and perform at the studio and within the community throughout the year!
Through an audition process, we place students based on age and ability into these performance focused programs:
- One AChord (Ages 13-18): Age/ability placement. Learn to perform string instruments as a chamber orchestra (mini orchestral groups).
- BandLIFE (Ages 8-18): Age/ability placement. Learn to write, arrange, improvise, and play in a garage band, worship band, or rock band setting with others.
- Heart Song (Ages 8-18): Students will learn to lead and perform praise and worship songs in a worship band.
Young Scholars Program
The Young Scholars Program (YSP) emphasizes specific aspects of music such as music theory, music history, music appreciation, etc. This program creates strong musicians and is meant to compliment private lessons but is also perfect for a student not yet studying an instrument. Students in YSP desire a fun, engaging, in depth, and academic approach to musical knowledge and awareness. The “Young Scholars Program: Music Theory Class” incorporates thought-provoking activities and academic exercises that develop an understanding of the “nuts and bolts” of music. The class course culminates with the Texas State Theory Exam, and the student will be awarded based upon their test score. Relatedly, annual participation in the Texas State Theory exam looks great on college or scholarship applications.
