Lessons are conveniently located at our Southlake campus inside Southlake Baptist Church at 2501 W Southlake Blvd. Lessons are offered every Thursday.

String study develops fine motor skills, ear training, and ensemble awareness that enriches every area of a student’s life.

With Southlake’s strong emphasis on well-rounded education, private lessons fit naturally into students’ after-school routines. String students develop exceptional ear training skills, as these instruments require precise pitch control without frets. We also serve families from nearby Trophy Club, Westlake, Grapevine, Colleyville, and Keller.

PRIVATE STRING INSTRUMENT LESSONS:

At NSSOTA, students have the opportunity to learn a wide range of string instruments, including:

  • Violin: The versatile and melodic violin is ideal for classical and contemporary music alike.
  • Viola: Slightly larger than the violin, the viola offers a rich, warm sound perfect for ensemble and solo playing.
  • Cello: Known for its deep, resonant tone, the cello is a favorite for both classical and modern compositions.
  • Double Bass: The foundation of orchestras and jazz bands, the double bass provides depth and rhythm.

Our curriculum encourages students to explore their chosen instrument while building a strong foundation in string technique and performance.

VIRTUAL AND IN-HOME STRING INSTRUMENT LESSONS:

NSSOTA offers virtual and in-home lessons, allowing students to learn string instruments from the comfort of their home. Virtual lessons use secure platforms, enabling instructors to provide real-time feedback on technique, posture, and sound production. For students with busy schedules or transportation challenges, virtual lessons offer the flexibility to continue their musical education without compromising on quality.

In-home lessons bring the instructor directly to the student’s home, offering personalized guidance in a familiar environment. This option is ideal for families who prefer a convenient, flexible approach while ensuring students receive the same professional instruction they would be in a traditional classroom setting.

PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES:

New Song School of the Arts provides ample opportunities for brass students to perform in front of an audience, whether in group settings or as part of recitals. These performances help build confidence and stage presence, which are essential skills for any musician. Students in both private and group lessons will be invited to showcase their progress during recitals held in the school’s Recital Hall or Black Box Theater. Additionally, group lessons often culminate in ensemble performances, where students can experience the thrill of playing with others in a live setting.

MUSICAL LITERACY:

In addition to teaching technical aspects of each instrument, NSSOTA’s string instrument instructors place a strong emphasis on music literacy. Reading music is an essential skill for all musicians, and string players will learn how to read treble, bass, and tenor clefs, depending on their instrument. Lessons begin with simple exercises and progress to more complex pieces as students advance. Instructors cover the basics of note reading, rhythms, dynamics, and articulation, ensuring that students have a comprehensive understanding of how to interpret and perform music.

NSSOTA also integrates music theory into lessons, helping students understand the structure of the pieces they are playing. This includes learning about chords, scales, and musical forms, which are crucial for both solo and ensemble performance.

CONCLUSION:

String instrument lessons at New Song School of the Arts offer a comprehensive, adaptable approach that nurtures the musical abilities of both children and adults. With experienced instructors, flexible lesson formats, and a curriculum that encourages growth, creativity, and performance, NSSOTA provides an ideal environment for anyone looking to develop or enhance their string-playing skills. Whether in private or group settings, New Song School of the Arts guides each student on a musical journey that fosters a lifelong appreciation and enjoyment of string instruments.
