Mr. Austin is a dedicated and accomplished music educator, currently in his seventh year of serving as the Head Band Director for Whitesboro Middle School. An alumnus of the University of North Texas, Mr. Austin’s musical expertise spans a wide range of ensembles, including the UNT Concert Band, Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Green Brigade Marching Band, and Volleyball Band. His proficiency on the soprano, alto, tenor, baritone, and bass saxophones highlights his versatility and deep commitment to his craft.
Under his leadership, the middle school band program has flourished, earning multiple UIL Sweepstakes Awards and making a notable appearance at the ATSSB State OPS Contest. Mr. Austin’s influence extends beyond the middle school level, playing a pivotal role in the high school’s band program’s success. His guidance has contributed to the attainment of two UIL Silver Medals and one UIL Gold Medal in the State Marching Band Championships.
Mr. Austin is passionate about guiding young adults on their journey to discovering the best versions of themselves through music and the arts. His educational philosophy emphasizes the development of high-contributing members of society, fostering both musical excellence and personal growth in his students. He creates an environment where students are encouraged to strive for greatness, both as musicians and as individuals.
