Fun, engaging, and passionate are just some of the words that describe Ms. Mengni as a teacher. With years of teaching experience, she understands the enrichment that a musical journey can bring to the lives of her students, and she wishes to influence them in such a way that will help them love music for a lifetime.

Ms. Mengni is a concert pianist who began playing the piano as a young girl in China. While growing up, she performed in piano competitions and won a number of prizes. Over the years, Ms. Mengni has held positions as a staff pianist at universities, churches, and schools. She loves to perform on her piano and enjoys knowing her music makes people feel blessed and happy.

As a piano teacher, it has been a joy to watch some of her students go on to pursue music at a collegiate and professional level.

Ms. Mengni is currently pursuing her Doctor of Musical Arts in Collaborative Piano at the University of North Texas. She is also pursuing a field of study in Piano Pedagogy.

She has performed, collaborated, and recorded in diverse settings such as concerts, masterclasses, competitions, solo & ensemble contests, degree auditions, fundraising events, summer festivals, and church services throughout the United States, China, and Germany.

As a teacher, Ms. Mengni strives to be creative and find ways to get her students excited to learn. In addition to teaching her students how to play the piano, she finds ways to make things like music history and music theory FUN! She also likes to include musical activities that reinforce rhythm, note reading, music appreciation, and ear training.

Ms. Mengni believes that it is “better to TEACH a man how to fish than to GIVE him a fish.” Thus, desiring to have a partnership with her students, she works at developing discipline and leadership skills to help them become independent, well-rounded musicians.
